RESEARCH
Exploring how the built environment influences how we feel, function, connect, and experience well-being.
Katara's work is grounded in curiosity about the relationship between people and place. Beyond function and aesthetics, we are interested in the ways our surroundings influence human experience—our sense of comfort and belonging, our patterns of interaction, our connection to nature, and our physical and emotional well-being.
This evolving body of research explores ideas across environmental design, psychology, neuroscience, health, culture, sustainability, and the sensory experience of space.
Through research-informed essays and independent inquiry, we examine what is known, what is emerging, and what questions remain about the role environments can play in supporting human well-being.
The intention is not to prescribe a singular approach to design, but to deepen the questions that inform our work—and our understanding of the relationship between people and the places they inhabit.
